UniProtKB description:  Catalyzes N-methylation of phosphomonomethylethanolamine and phosphodimethylethanolamine, the two methylation steps required to convert phosphomonoethanolamine to phosphocholine (PubMed:20650897). Unlike NMT1, NMT2 cannot utilize phosphoethanolamine as substrate in vitro (PubMed:20650897). In association with NMT1, involved in the production of phosphatidylcholine in roots, essential for root development (PubMed:30518673). In association with NMT1 produce phosphocholine mainly for leaf growth maintenance (PubMed:35560207).
