UniProtKB description:  Alpha-conotoxins bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and inhibit them (PubMed:13679412, PubMed:28917942). This toxin blocks mammalian nAChRs (alpha-6 or -3/beta-2 or -3 > alpha-3/beta-2 > alpha-3/beta-4) when heterologously expressed in Xenopus oocytes (PubMed:13679412, PubMed:28917942). Does not block the muscle nor the major neuronal nAChR alpha-4/beta-2 (PubMed:13679412). Discriminates between nAChRs containing alpha-6 and alpha-3 subunits, being selective for alpha-6 (PubMed:13679412). Also reduces the frequency of responses from the giant fiber (GF)-dorsal longitudinal muscle pathway in the D.melanogaster GF circuit, but has no effect on the GF-tergo trochanteral muscle pathway (PubMed:28917942).
