NS35 forms a functional octamer which is essential for genome replication and formation of viroplasms [1-4]. This is the N-terminal domain, which contains basic residues, that in addition to the basic residues in the C-terminal helix, are important for sequence-independent RNA binding of NS35 [4]. This domain also has conserved cysteine residues which form disulfide that might be relevant for NS35 activity [3].

This is the C-terminal domain, which has nucleotide triphosphatase (NTPase) and nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDP kinase) activities, required for dsRNA synthesis. Additionally, basic residues in a C-terminal helix of this domain contributes to sequence-independent RNA binding of NSP2 [3,4].
